Recovery of Gujarat’s Industrial & MSME sector


Consumption of electricity and power in the state of Gujarat by industries have touched the optimum level of 2019 and is expected to Increase even more.

Mr. Manoj Das, principal secretary to the chief minister and in-charge principal secretary of industries and mines department has stated, “Key indicators like industrial power consumption and water demand are showing complete normalcy now. In fact, we are expecting that in July, these indicators will exceed the levels recorded in July 2019.”

As on the day of 28th June, the industries of Gujarat had power consumption (204 million units) equivalent to the 100% demand at the same time last year(206 million units), Whereas the water consumption within Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) areas (349 million litres per day) exceeded the demand level present at the same time last year (248 million litres per day)

Mr. Manoj Das also added “In GIDC areas alone, 53,000 units are now fully functional and employ over 17.5 lakh workers. Moreover, we are focusing on providing relief to the micro small and medium enterprise (MSME) sector and other units. Under the PM’s programme, 125,000 MSME units have got loan approvals of over Rs 9,000 crore”.

On the other hand, an estate on 47 hectares of land at Aithor in Unjha taluka of Mehsana district has been set up by GIDC, to encourage small and medium enterprises. This industrial estate is divided into two zones, MSME zone and general zone which include 279 plots. GIDC Chairman Balwant singh Rajput told that 1,220 eligible applications have been confirmed from online applications. Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel will allot plots to applicants after a draw on 7th July at 3 pm.

Apart from all these, many MSMEs in Gujarat are performing and growing very well, and a few prominent names include : Speedotech, Shubham Enterprise, Darshan Laser Tech, Ravi Enterprises, Shakti Industries, Ganesh Machinetools, Hetal Machinetools, etc.
